    Pet Loss

As pet owners….no matter if that be canine, feline, bird, reptile, fish, amphibian, farm animal or other species…our pets depend on us for everything.  Over time that bond increases and our pets become more like companions and family members.

If your pet has been diagnosed with a terminal illness you may begin to feel a sense of powerlessness. Or if your pet has passed on you may begin to feel overwhelmed with painful emotions; that there is a piece of you missing that you can’t explain.

Therapy is a way to begin the process of healing in an environment that is caring and non-judgmental. Actively grieving is important for our mental and emotional health; even when we think we will never feel like ourselves again. Sharing memories of our pet, showing pictures of our pet, allowing ourselves to feel what we need to feel is an important path to our healing.

    If this sounds like you…

    • You feel lonely or depressed due to the loss of your pet
    • You can’t seem to cope with the finality of losing your beloved companion
    • You feel guilty or anxious about having to euthanize your pet, or about the circumstances surrounding their illness or death
    • Certain activities or particular areas of your home are a constant and painful reminder of your loss
    • You want to find a way to move past the sorrow and grief and remember your pet without the painful emotions

    …Then one-on-one therapy can help.

Therapy can help you cope with the heavy emotional burden of losing a pet. Discussing your loss and learning coping strategies for dealing with your grief can help you go through the grieving process and begin to move forward.

How long it takes to grieve the loss of your pet is entirely personal……whatever that period of time is yours and yours alone to experience.

I look forward to meeting you.
