Anxiety
Anxiety symptoms can come on very quickly, even when you are asleep. Anxiety is uncomfortable, scary and challenging. Our lives are very busy and often we are taking care of everyone else at the cost of our own emotional health. Learning about selfcare is an important part of managing anxiety along with skills to reframe negative thoughts.
When it comes to treating anxiety disorders, individual therapy is an effective option. For some people medication along with therapy is helpful - that is a decision to be made between you and your doctor/psychiatrist.
Some symptoms of anxiety are:
- Nervousness, restlessness
- Feelings of danger, panic, or dread
- Rapid breathing or hyperventilation
- Increased or heavy sweating
- Trembling or muscle twitching
- Weakness or lethargy
- Difficulty focusing or thinking clearly
- Insomnia, Isolating
- Ruminating thoughts – thinking about the same thing over and over again
- Overwhelming/intense feelings about a particular life event or experience that has occurred in the past; or what may/or not happen in the future
Therapy can help to uncover the underlying causes of your worries and fears. You can learn new skills on how to relax, look at situations in a new, less frightening way, and develop better coping mechanisms and problem-solving skills.
I look forward to meeting and working with you.
